Hi everybody,

I know a lot of you are Queen fans and know plenty of other Queen fans. I thought I'd reach out here and spread the word about an event my band is organizing.

Most of you probably know about "Freddie For A Day," the event the Mercury Phoenix Trust holds every year on Freddie Mercury's birthday ito raise funds and awareness about AIDS. Well, my band is holding a benefit show for MPT that following Saturday (Sept 9th) to celebrate Freddie's birthday. A portion of the bar proceeds will go to the Trust, and some local artists will sell Queen/Freddie-related prints to benefit the Trust as well.

If any of you live in the Phoenix, Arizona area (or know someone who does), please spread the word about this event! Admission is FREE, and it's for a good cause! Several of the bands (us included) will be covering Queen tunes as well. :)

The Facebook event can be found here: [link]

Cheers!

Just as the title says, it's been forever since I've posted here. I've been so busy with work, school, my band, and my personal life, that I've pretty much abandoned dA.

I graduated university with my Bachelor's in May and start pursuing my MBA later this month. I've been working as a full-time video editor for nearly three months now, and my band Varkan (fb.com/varkanofficial) has played a few shows, and we're currently looking for new guitarists. I also start my stint at Heavy Metal Television as a video DJ later this month heavymetaltelevision.com.

As I have more time to post artwork, I will be sure to post them here. Haven't done much other than concert fliers and maybe a few local band-related stuff.

I haven't responded to messages simply because there's so many. As always, thank you for the fav's and watches.

I see my "REAL Music Stamp" still has a lot of traction, even though I made it in 2009 (?) or so. I'm not *as much* of an elitist anymore (there's plenty of great new bands and artists), but that's how I felt back then, so deal with it, cause I'm not deleting it.

Thanks all. Hopefully I'll be more active here in the near-future.

Alecto

Unless you've been away from the headbanging world, you are aware that Halestorm won the 2013 Grammy for "Best Hard Rock/Metal Performance". This win is historic in the sense that singer Lzzy Hale is the first female singer to ever be nominated for that category and win.

By all means, congrats to Halestorm. They are a hard working band and "Love Bites (So Do I)" is a great song.

But once again, this decision reflects the cluelessness of the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences (NARAS), the head of the Grammys, when it comes to metal.

The hard rock/metal category has undergone several changes.

The first and only "Best Hard Rock/Metal Performance Vocal or Instrumental" Grammy was awarded in 1989. It was expected that Metallica would win. Their album "…And Justice For All" had spawned the hit "One" and was their best-selling album to date.
