There are extremely FEW exceptions to today's modern artists who I actually respect for their talent. It seems like today's music world is filled with talentless trash who claim to be real musicians. Worse, they have the gall to compare themselves to legends.
In my opinion, Taylor Swift is NOT the greatest female vocalist of all-time, just like the Jonas Brothers are NOT the best-selling rock band of all-time.
Just listen to the bands on this stamp, people. Get your facts straight, and stop trashing the "old" music simply cos it's "old". Most likely, it's better than yours. Music-wise, at least.
There was a time when being a musician consisted of a person actually being able to sing and play a musical instrument (a computer didn't count) and write their own songs.
I simply wonder when those days will return...
How I wished I lived in the 60's, 70's, and 80's. Maybe even the early 90's. Or before those decades; it's not just about rock and roll. It's about the state of music as a whole.
I hope you like this stamp, and if you don't--well, I have my opinion and you have yours. But you can't deny that the overall musicianship of these past two decades have been subject to a horrid decline.
Much love -M^3
EDIT: WOW. I never imagined this would get so many faves. On the contrary, I thought many people would dislike it and that I would make many enemies cause of it. But now I know it is true that the Artist is their own worst critic. Thanks so much!
EDIT: I do acknowledge that there are plenty of great bands aside from those mentioned on this stamp. If I were to include every great rock band from the 60's-80's, the stamp would simply be too large to upload! I chose these specific bands for a reason, because they are among the most recognizable and influential in their genre. For example, most people know who Pink Floyd is, but most do not know who King Crimson is. The reason I created this stamp was to emphasize a point. It is to showcase my pride in my taste in music. In my opinion, my favorite musicians are more talented than, say, Ke$ha. The talent has moved from the musicians to behind the switchboard, where today's so-called "artists" are over-dependent on techonology such as Autotune and Pro Tools. None of these bands needed Autotune to perform live. All of them use real instruments and mostly wrote their own songs. If you don't like it, well, let's agree to disagree. It's going to be really difficult to change my taste, which has been shaped over the seventeen years of my life.
i hate these days. no one can truly like '60s-Now without someone else thinking that they are lying. I like the old music, because I think it's energetic and fun. I like today's music because it is experimental and joyous. Can't someone like ALL types of music?
